Oceans as a Source of Energy (Lisbon - 17/18 May)
The Portuguese Academy of Engineering and the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften (Berlin-Brandenburg Academie of Sciences) will be organizing jointly a series of three workshops on the general subject of Oceans.
The first workshop will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, on 17-18 May 2009, on "Oceans as a Source of Energy", and will cover offshore oil and gas as well as marine renewables like offshore wind, waves, tidal currents and osmotic power.
The preliminary programme includes:
- S1 Oceanography - Yesterday and Today
- S2 Offshore Oil and Gas
- S3 Wave Energy
- S4 Offshore Wind
- S5 Other Renewables (tidal currents and dams, osmotic power)
- S6 Trends in Technology and Research
- S7 Funding and Policies
Each session will include invited paper(s), submitted paper(s) and 2-3 contributionsfrom panel members.
You are invited to submit, by the 1st of March 2010, a 4-page A4 (maximum) contribution to be presented either orally or in poster format. Accepted contributions will be published in the workshop proceedings.
